Bioenergy LT Team Visits Finland: Sustainable Solutions for Grassland and Cereal Productivity

The Bioenergy LT team recently participated in a field day in the Kalajoki region of Finland, where many farms focus on grasslands and animal feed production. During the visit, we assessed field conditions and identified areas with uneven grass growth caused by accumulated straw residues. Such residues can hinder uniform germination and reduce yield potential.

To address this issue, we recommended applying the biological product Ruinex after the next cut. Ruinex enhances the activity of beneficial microorganisms in the soil, helping to suppress root diseases and prevent the spread of pathogens such as Fusarium. We also advised applying Bactoforce together with Ruinex in the spring to support early plant development and promote overall soil vitality from the start of the season.

We also visited barley fields that looked visually healthy but showed signs of Fusarium damage in the root system, which disrupts nutrient uptake and long-term crop performance. In such cases, applying Ruinex after harvest can significantly improve the breakdown of plant residues and prepare the soil for the next crop cycle.

Soil requires consistent care and action. We sincerely thank Professor Vytautas Liakas for his valuable insights and practical recommendations during the visit.
